Route Plan Document

  • Detailed Search and Rescue maps of the North Island that we recommend carrying in addition to the GPX routes are available from www.crsar.ca or Campbell River outdoor stores, such as River Sportsman or Tyee Marine.
  • A turn by turn printable pdf description of directions to complement map users is available by request (See below).

GPX Track

Thanks to Frances Walsh who sent a GPX file based on the basic route from the turn by turn directions. It doesn’t show any of the optional side trips, but gives a good overall base for your ride.

Avenza Map

The North Island Map shows a version of the North Island 1000 based from the “Turn by Turn” route plan document. We were not able to post the Map for free (we tried), so it is available for a small fee ($2.99). If you have the app, this can be another method to plan your route.
